Yes, there are belt colors for adults ranging from white to blue to purple to brown to black. The student advances through testing. The timing between exam varies by the level of the rank and hours spent in training.
Parents, enrolled in our family plan, are welcome to participate.
Aikido is ideal for women. The techniques to not emphasize upper body strength. Because of this women often learn quicker than men. Aikido also stresses “situational awareness” so that dangerous situations can be avoided.
All forms of physical activity carry a risk of injury. Our goal is to promote training, which does not cause injury. As in other arts, the student “taps” to indicate the technique is felt.
Classes are held 7 days a week. Check the schedule for times.
Aikido great for kids and students are usually 7 years or older when they begin their training.
You are welcome to visit any scheduled class.

Orange County Aiki Kai was founded in 1964 by Harry Ishisaka (c. 1929-1978). Born on December 28, 1928, In 1964, with Tohei Sensei's encouragement, Ishisaka Sensei founded the dojo. His love for the art and the people
around him taught his students the importance of fellowship, skill and innovation. This spirit still lives in our dojo.

Aikido is one of the newer Japanese martial arts developed by Morihei Ueshiba (O-Sensei) based on his early training in and knowledge of Judo and Jiu Jitsu. It is a defensive martial art, which emphasizes self-control and harmonization. Defensive techniques are designed to neutralize an attack with little or no harm to the attacker.
